Welcome to the doldrums of Winter, or as it seems to be heading. In the Northwest, that simply means there’s snow in the mountains and music in the air. This week has a few particularly nice surprises up its sleeve and though it starts off slow, the weekend is chock full of great shows. Tuesday starts strong with two potentially awesome shows with two KEXP favorites: Scottish rockers We Were Promised Jetpacks at Neumos and Canadian New Wavers Austra at the Crocodile. Both are fan favorites, both will be phenomenal. On Wednesday, Scott H. Biram will be ripping up the Tractor, and you can catch a preview when he performs live on KEXP on the Afternoon Show with Kevin Cole at 4PM. On Thursday, Feist brings her moody intensity to the Moore Theatre while Noah & The Whale bring their London folk-tinged tunes across town to the Neptune. On Friday, Grand Archives are at the Crocodile, and there’s a couple good under the radar local shows going on with Police Teeth and Virgin Islands at the Comet, and Sports with The Fascination Movement at the Sunset. Much more of the same on Saturday, including really cool local shows with The Young Evils at Rendezvous, Don’t Talk To The Cops at Comet Tavern, hometown heroes The Posies at Neptune, and the much-anticipated WU LYF, poised to be a 2011 Top Ten favorite of many DJs, at the Crocodile with Crystal Antlers. That will be a ripping good night! On Sunday, don’t miss tUnE-yArDs at Neptune or Crooked Fingers are at the Crocodile. Talk about decisions! And those are just some of the highlights. Here’s a more complete schedule for the rest of the week:
